Why do I need to use a professional copywriter? How hard can writing be?
Weaving words together to make them original and interesting, is crucial to any business and organisation.
Targeting the reader skilfully to grab their attention, inform and entertain them, is key to selling your products and services.
A professional copywriter will work with you to understand the essence of your business and the audience you're reaching out to. They will focus both on the features and benefits of your business. A careful selection of words will create the right message.
If you're looking to develop your house style and find the perfect tone of voice for your brand, having a copywriter is a worthwhile investment.
Why do I need to use a professional proofreader?
Does quality really matter if I still get my message across?
The importance of immaculate spelling and impeccable grammar can't be underestimated.
Typos and misplaced punctuation, no matter how small, show a lack of attention to detail. Promoting and selling your brand is about making a great first impression and correct spelling and grammar makes your article, advert, social media post or website easy to understand and credible.
A professional proofreader is often the final-eye specialist you need to catch the mistakes you might have missed. We're only human after all.
How does the process work?
For copywriting:
-
Contact me for a chat about what you need and how I can help.
-
We'll work in partnership to create a detailed brief.
-
I'll use the brief to provide a quote and draw up a contract.
-
Once you're happy to proceed, just pay a deposit to launch me into action.
-
I'll supply a first draft and we'll collaborate to make any amendments.
-
Once you're happy with the final copy, you can pay the remainder of my fee.
For proofreading & copy editing:
After reviewing a section of your document, I'll advise how much editing is needed, before providing a quote.
How much do you charge?
Copywriting:
Every job is different so I charge on a project-by-project basis.
However, based on the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP), my typical hourly rate ranges from £30-£45 per hour.
Factors I consider when costing a project are:
-
how complex the brief is
-
how much planning and research is involved
-
the word count
All quotes include two amendments.
Proofreading and copy editing:
Level 1 includes:
-
checking and correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, tables and lists
-
ensuring copy has a single voice, audience and purpose
-
ensuring copy is consistent, clear and factually accurate
Typical cost is £31 per hour.
Level 2 includes:
-
all of the above
-
suggestions for changes to the structure and content of the text which may include substantial rewriting.
Typical cost is £36-£45 per hour.
How quickly can you complete a project?
I will work to complete projects by a given deadline, without compromising on quality and accuracy. I will assess the size of a project against my availability before committing to the work.
